Compare the full cost, not just the payment

Financing can make a purchase manageable, but a low monthly payment may come from a longer term or higher total cost. Compare offers using the same vehicle price and down payment.

01

Know the key numbers

Review the annual percentage rate, amount financed, loan term, monthly payment, total interest, and total of payments. Add taxes, registration, lender fees, optional products, and the down payment to understand the complete transaction.

02

Compare offers directly

Ask each lender for written terms before choosing. Keep the amount financed and term consistent while comparing, and check whether the quoted rate depends on credit, automatic payments, collateral, or other conditions.

03

Ask before you sign

Confirm when payments begin, how late payments are handled, whether early payoff has a fee, which products are optional, and who owns the title during the loan. Do not sign blank or incomplete documents.

Common questions

Clear answers before the next step

Is a longer loan always cheaper?

No. A longer term can reduce the monthly payment while increasing the interest and total amount paid. Compare both monthly cost and total cost.
